In memory of John Belham-Payne

John Belham-Payne, who came to talk to us here in Brighton in December about the two planned exhibitions later this year based on material from the Doreen Valiente Collection, sadly died unexpectedly yesterday morning. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Because both John and Doreen have strong links to Brighton, he was very keen to talk to us about it as early as possible.

We were all very touched by his friendliness, sincerity, and commitment to doing the right thing for Doreen in the way she would have wanted.

Where Witchcraft Lives - exhibitions in Brighton this year

John was of course a leading light in both the Centre for Pagan Studies and the Doreen Valiente Foundation, where he will be greatly missed.

Finally, a photograph of John looking from the side while Rufus Harrington is speaking during the unveiling ceremony for Doreen's blue plaque in Brighton in June 2013.
